GWS Giants
The GWS Giants joined the AFL competition in 2012, having been granted the AFL’s 18th licence in 2010 as part of the AFL’s expansion push.
Using similar draft concessions to that of the Gold Coast Suns in previous seasons, the Giants began competing in the 2010 TAC Cup before entering the North Eastern Australian Football League, NAB Cup and Foxtel Cup in 2011.
The Giants signed several star recruits from other clubs, including star midfielder Tom Scully as well as Rhys Palmer, Callan Ward and Phil Davis.Despite these signings and a raft of high draft selections, the Giants struggled in their first two seasons.
In 2014, GWS will be looking to their maturing young stars to step up and have an impact on the AFL competition.

Melbourne Demons
The Melbourne Demons joined the AFL in 1897 as one of its foundation members. The club itself was founded in 1858 making it the oldest club in VFL/AFL history. Melbourne have won 12 AFL flags but have constantly faced financial demolition and off field turmoil throughout its history. The Demons have coincidently finished with several wooden spoons in recent years.
